Students
Hope offers a variety of opportunities for college students from within the United States and overseas to gain experience and knowledge about the field of Human Services and disabilities. Several programs have been developed to achieve this objective, which include internships, summer work opportunities and voluntary service opportunities.
One such opportunity began over a decade ago through a partnership between Hope and the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) in Waterford, Ireland. This is a voluntary service program that allows associates of Waterford to provide community service in Alaska by helping Hope in its efforts to provide services to the people who choose its supports. Since its inception several other colleges in Ireland and other countries have joined the International Volunteer Program.
If you are a student and interested in such opportunities, you can e-mail Hope’s Human Resource Network at humanresources@hopealaska.org. If you are a student in Ireland, please e-mail Dr. Sean Connor at Waterford Institute of Technology at sconnor@wit.ie as he coordinates this component of the student volunteer program.
Volunteerism is alive and well at Hope, offering people the opportunity to lend a helping hand in a variety of ways. Please visit our Volunteering page for more information.
We recommend that if you are interested in the Student Program, that you review the Student/Volunteer Handbook prior to contacting Hope. It contains a lot of information that should answer many of your questions. If you determine you would like to volunteer at Hope or be a part of the Student Program, you can follow the link below to apply online or download a printable application for to fill out by hand and submit by mail, fax or in person to the Anchorage office.
