In partnership with Alaska Jundokan, this karate class welcomes all skill levels to learn fundamental techniques while emphasizing discipline and self-control. Participants will build strength, improve coordination, and boost confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

In partnership with Alaska Jundokan, this class will give participants the opportunity to get together and experience the power and precision of karate. This class is designed for all skill levels. Instructors will teach participants the fundamental techniques including stance and strikes while emphasizing discipline, respect, and self-control. Participants will develop physical strength, improve coordination, and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment. Join to enhance your fitness, focus, and self-defense abilities.
Karate classes are held every Monday, excluding federal holidays, and are FREE for participants.
Discovery Center Class Policies
- Our Community Engagement Center classes are only available for current recipients of Hope’s Discovery Center waivered services. If the participant is not a current recipient, they will need to contact our New Services team before they are eligible to sign up for classes.
- Please review the Lesko Discovery Center's Behavioral Expectations for All Group Service Recipients. Understanding and agreeing to these guidelines is essential for participation in our weekly classes and help ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
- All class payments are nonrefundable. If you cannot attend a session after registering, no refunds will be issued. If a class is canceled due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, payments will be credited toward future sessions or other classes.
- Class fees vary based on activities and materials but are averaged to maintain consistency. Adjustments may occur to balance overall program costs.
- Each class requires a minimum number of participants. If the class does not meet the minimum enrollment, we reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or modify the class. In such cases, your payment will be credited toward future sessions or other classes.
- Please note that we have accounted for all federal holidays on which Hope's main campuses are closed. No classes will be held on these recognized holidays:
- January 1: New Year’s Day
- Third Monday in January: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Last Monday in May: Memorial Day
- July 4: Independence Day
- First Monday in September: Labor Day
- November 11: Veterans’ Day
- Fourth Thursday in November: Thanksgiving Day
- December 25: Christmas Day
